Federico Tricca
My name is Federico, and I am a natural sciences major at the Sapienza in Rome.
My passion for photography started as a teenager, in a very common way, while observing with fascination the artwork of a cousin of mine that led me to want to take this path a few years later by buying my first DSLR.
I’ve been interested in the natural world since I was a child, so I dedicated myself, at first, mainly to landscape photography which has accompanied me to this day and remains the genre that best represents me.
Over the years, thanks to the fact that I started traveling much more often, and I gained much more mastery of my camera, I started to gain interest in portraiture and photographing more urban landscapes, transforming the need to take pictures in a way to tell my experiences with the people around me .
I like to play with the myriad of colours that a landscape or a face hides, I never have something pre-meditated in the composition of my photos as I love to experiment by letting myself be carried away by emotions, and this can also be seen in my postproduction work, where I don't love to have a pre-established colour palette but I try to give character to the photo based on the feelings that the place and the people emanated while I was shooting. In my small way, each photo not only shows, but tells a part of me.
What does being featured mean to you?
“This is the first time trying to submit my work to a platform, I am really interested in seeing how the process works, and I also feel I got to the point where I need something more than just social media, I want to try and showcase my abilities and talk about them without the need to crop them into a square, or seeing the quality of an image being ruined by a social network.”
