An artist from the past - Robert Capa
Endre Erno Friedmann, in art Robert Capa, was born on October 22nd 1913 in Budapest, Hungary, and died May 25th 1954 in Thai Binh, Vietnam.
He is considered the greatest photojournalist of the 20th century, and first achieved fame as a war correspondent during the Spanish Civil War.
His main camera was a 35mm Leica because it was small, lightweight, quick, and easy to use.
From his most famous work we can remember the magnificent eleven, a group of photographs of the D-Day.
Robert Capa was also one of the founders of MAGNUM. Capa came up with the idea and founded the cooperative after World War 2 with Henri Cartier Bresson, David Seymour, George Rodger, William Vandivert, Maria Eisner, and Rita Vandivert.
MAGNUM Photos is still the most famous, and important cooperative of photographers, and it is extremely hard to become part of it.
Currently the cooperative has offices in New York City, Paris, London, and Tokyo.
Freak, out!
