Joselyn Gould
Joselyn Gould is an artist from Heredia, Costa Rica that specializes in dark portrait photography.
Joselyn received her first camera from her parents when she was a teenager.
“I enjoyed taking pictures during all my walks: my mom constantly had to buy me more rolls of film and I fell madly in love with this discipline.”
Joselyn decided to study photography in university, but after her graduation she still had the feeling that she had much more to learn.
She continued her education with two great teachers: Carlos Zeledon and Alonso Soto, and thanks to them she learnt so much more about photography and editing.
In 2019 Joselyn took part in the annual event Expo Foto with a project of hers, called Reviresco, which was exhibited in the Calderón Guardia Museum in San José. Lately, she has dedicated herself to other projects, all related to the same theme: dark portraiture and the topic of the different.
What Joselyn says about her work:
“My projects are mostly open to personal interpretation. I love watching the expressions of the people who look at my photos: (usually,) they notice them, they stop, they observe the details and draw their own conclusion, and I love all of this. I love to create emotions that won’t stop at the mere beauty of the shot but reach far beyond. I am inspired by the different, the strange, the unique…”
